Kyle Brooks Triumphs Over Adam Envy to Claim PWM Championship at Summertime Madness IV!

Published: 16/07/2024

It was a much anticipated main event at Summertime Madness IV, as crowd favourite Kyle Brooks looked to fulfill his dream of holding the Pro Wrestling Malta championship as he faced the champion Adam Envy in what was an electric bout. Tensions were high between the two, as it was Envy who had betrayed Kyle Brooks two years prior, at Summertime Madness II, leading to the alliance between Brooks and Hamez, Second II None, and their 434-day title reign which was brought to an end in controversial fashion by Envy’s associates Owen Blanco and Fabio Ferrari, who along with their manager Daoud Khan, were all in Envy’s corner. Hamez was nowhere to be seen, however, as he was taken out by The Freakshow earlier on, leaving Brooks alone against The Standard.

Brooks was fired up, and did not let Envy intimidate him as he immediately went on the offensive; delivering a series of punches after taking Envy down early on. Envy would then take to the outside to retreat, with Brooks looking to go for a suicide dive, only for Envy to cut him off mid-flight and take control of the match. Envy looked to use any underhanded tactics he could early on, choking Brooks on the bottom rope and going for his signature cartwheel-slap combo, which was telegraphed by Brooks who put his boots up to counter. Envy would then deliver a devastating tilt-a-whirl backbreaker as Kyle was running at him to take back control of the match.

It was a back-and-forth affair, with Brooks delivering an impressive top-rope Frankensteiner on Envy to the Pro Wrestling Malta fans’ delight. This was followed by a remarkable series of kicks with Kyle then hitting Envy’s patented Zig-zag, which led to manager Daoud Khan taking out the referee as he was about to count to 3, to the Pro Wrestling Malta fans’ astonishment. Fabio Ferrari would continue beating up the referee on the outside with Blanco getting in the ring to beat up a helpless Kyle Brooks – that was until Hamez entered the arena. Trudging on with an injured ribcage, he took out Blanco and Ferrari, leaving the match to a one-on-one between Brooks and Envy.

With the referee still out, Envy took the opportunity and hit Brooks with a low blow and went for the pin, leading to a second referee to enter the ring, with Brooks kicking out at 2. As Envy set up for his finishing move, Brooks reversed it into a Jackknife pin and beat Envy for the title, as the arena exploded with joy! An irate Standard then surrounded Brooks and Hamez as they were celebrating, only for Jack Quinn to come in for the save. This led to the Pro Wrestling Malta General Manager getting involved and making two matches official for November 2nd: a Tag Team Title match between Quinn & Hamez and Ferrari & Blanco as well as Envy’s rematch for the PWM Championship against Brooks in a ladder match! Tickets will be on sale soon for “Ascend to Glory”, stay tuned for more information.
